The Digital Learner
St.Gerard’s has been at the forefront of digital learning for many years through our early technology adoption and forward-thinking vision.
- Education delivery is no longer confined to the hours of the school day. We have truly embraced the benefits of online content delivery. After the proven success of our proprietary fixed solution for sharing content, we have progressed to use Google Apps for Education with Google Classroom and Google Drive to provide a multi-subject, collaborative platform from which we can drive our technology pedagogy. Harnessing the power of the cloud has enabled our students to access content from any device, anywhere and at any time.
- In conjunction with this, we have adopted a 1:1 iPad mobile learning programme since 2012 which equips our students to become creative, independent learners and problem solvers; skilled for the demands of the 21st century world.
- We use eBooks, teacher’s websites, online quizzes and tests, homework assignments are set and collected via Google Classroom, notices are posted on Google Classroom, students and teachers collaborate on documents and projects.
- Language teachers maximise the audio capabilities to allow students to interactively improve their oral and aural skills.
- History, Geography and Science resources enable content to come to life to engage learners of all different strengths to access material in the way that suits them.
- Technical Graphics instructional videos allow students to master material in their own time.
Our vision for the future in St.Gerard’s is constantly evolving - our digital strategy ensures that we continue to lead, not follow, in educational excellence through technology.
